British Empire, West Indies, British Occupation of the Dutch Colony of Curaçao, Silver Three Reaals of Eighteen Stuivers (5.17g, 23x20mm), Emergency Issue by Authorization 1814 AD raised by British Governor and Commander-in-Chief John Studholme Hodgson (Governor 1811-1815), ‘3 with a long tail within a dentilated circle’ countermark on a cut ‘driekantje’ (triangle) from a Spanish Empire Eight Reales of King Ferdinand VII, unattributable date and mint. Obverse of Host: Portions of the Royal Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Spain, Pillars of Hercules type (1700-1868); countermarked with mark of value ‘3’ within incuse, dentilated circle. Reverse of Host: Portions of the Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of King Ferdinand VII facing to the left. KM-29; Scholten-1371. Lightly toned with an even grey, a very neatly cut flan and easily attributed to Ferdinand VII, a strong countermark, overall better then often seen, Host Coin Very Fine or better, Countermark good Very Fine, moderately scarce.
