Federal Republic of Central America, Silver Eight Reales (26.87g, 38mm), 1828 NG M, Guatemala City mint. Obverse: Radiant Sun with face rising behind row of five volcanoes within inner lined border, date below, legend surrounds, “REPUBLICA DEL CENTRO DE AMERICA”. Reverse: Tree central, smaller foliage on groundline below, denomination “8 R·” to field either side, all within inner lined border, mintmark, assayer’s initials and fineness surrounds below, legend surrounds above, “LIBRE CRESCA FECUNDO”. KM-4. A noteworthy piece, problem free and with a nice even grey patina, quite attractive in hand and from quite a popular series, near Extremely Fine, reverse good Very Fine.
The obverse Spanish legend is stated in full and has an English translation of “Republic of Central America”. The reverse Spanish legend is also stated in full and has an English meaning of “Being free grows fertile”.
