Obverse: Bare head of King Joseph-Napoléon Bonaparte facing to the left, date below, legend surrounds, “·IOSEPH· NAP· DEI· GRATIA·”. Reverse: Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Spain under Napoleonic occupation surmounted by Royal Crown, denomination “20 R·” either side, legend ending with mintmark and master engraver’s initials surrounds, “HISPANIARUM ET IND· REX.”. Edge: Repeating “0//” pattern in relief. KM-551.2. Notably bold and relatively problem free, only minor contact marks in field and slight metal stress over date, a very noteworthy portrait, very collectible, choice Extremely Fine.
The obverse Latin legend reads “Iōsēphus Napoléon, Deī Grātiā”, with an English translation of “Joseph Napoleon, by the Grace of God”. The obverse legend continues onto the reverse and reads “Hispāniae et Indiae rēx”, with an English translation of “King of Spain and the Indies”.
