British East India Company, Queen Victoria (1837-1901 AD), Silver Quarter Rupee (2.93g, 19mm), 1840, Bombay or Calcutta mint. Obverse: Young bare head of Queen Victoria facing to the left, her hair double filleted and collected in an updo knot, initials “W.W.” raised on truncation, divided legend surrounds, “VICTORIA QUEEN”. Reverse: Denomination in English and Persian central, wreath surrounds, tied below with bow that lacks a privy mark, date without stop below, legend surrounds, “EAST INDIA COMPANY”.
