Obverse: Young, bare head of Queen Victoria facing to the left, her hair double filleted and collected in an updo knot, engraver’s initials “.W.W” (William Wyon) incuse on truncation, legend surrounds, “VICTORIA QUEEN”. Reverse: Denomination in English and mis-spelt Persian central, wreath of laurel with 24 berries (12-12) surrounds, tied below with bow that lacks a privy mark, date below, legend surrounds, “EAST INDIA COMPANY”. Steven & Weir-3.46. Certified and graded by PCGS as Mint State 62. A sharp and most handsome E.I.C. 1840 half rupee, awash with attractive cabinet grey toning supplemented with muted rainbow through the devices.
