Description
Celtic Britannia, the Iceni, inscribed coinage, Silver Unit (1.28g 12mm), ‘ECEN Stepping Horse’ type, circa 10-43 AD. Obverse: Pair of opposing voided crescents with two pellets between, all on a central band set on a perpendicular wreath. Reverse: Celticized horse right, ‘Y’ shaped head with corn-ear mane, “S” by head, three leaves on shoulder, floral arrangement of pellets above, “ECE” below. ABC-1660. Some light find patina through reverse devices, struck on a fairly broad flan with most devices present, struck with quite worn obverse dies, good Very Fine.
