Description
Celtic Britannia, the Iceni, inscribed coinage, Silver Unit (1.23g, 12.5mm), ‘ECEN Stepping Horse’ type, circa 10-43 AD. Obverse: Pair of opposing voided crescents with two pellets between, all on a central band set on a perpendicular wreath. Reverse: Celticized horse right, ‘Y’ shaped head with corn-ear mane, “S” by head, three leaves on shoulder, floral arrangement of pellets above, “ECE” below. ABC-1660. Struck on a broad flan with all devices present and clear, struck with a heavily worn obverse die, good Very Fine.
