Description
Celtic Britannia, the Iceni Tribe, Early Uninscribed Coinage, Silver ‘Norfolk God’ Unit (1.19g, 13mm), circa 10-40 AD, Icenian ‘O’ type. Obverse: Celticized head facing to the right, ‘slit’ shaped eye and vestigial ear, hair comprised of straight and curving lines, herring-bone pattern to left, wreath-like design surrounds. Reverse: Celticized horse prancing to the right, lozenge shape and line of three pellets below body, single pellet below tail, large, roped wheel-like object above. ABC-1567; VA-790-1. Traces of deposits and struck minorly off centre on the obverse revealing the lower die devices, very good metal, a much loved type from the series, Very Fine.
