Description
Diva Egnatia Mariniana, Augusta and the wife of Valerian I, died circa 253 AD, Billon Antoninianus (3.44g, 19mm), Rome mint 253-254 AD. Obverse: Diademed, veiled and draped bust of Mariniana facing to the right, bust set on crescent, legend surrounds, “DIVAE MARINIANAE”. Reverse: Peacock stands forward, head turned to the right, its tail in splendour, “V” to right field, legend surrounds, “CONSECRATIO”. Sear-10068; RSC-4-6. Deeply toned and well centred, reverse a little soft in strike, details Very Fine.
