Michael VII, Byzantine Emperor of the Doukid Dynasty 1071-1078 AD, Gold Histamenon Nomisma (4.39g, 26mm, Scyphate), Constantinople mint 1071-1078 AD. Obverse: Half-length bust of Christ Pantocrator facing forward, nimbate and wearing tunic and pallium, raising right hand in benediction and holding the book of Gospels in left, “IC” to left, “XC” to right. Reverse: Half-length bust of Michael VII Ducas facing forward, wearing Loros and crown with two pendilia, holding labarum in right hand and globus cruciger aloft in left, legend surrounds, “+MIX AHA RACIΛ O Δ”. Doc-2c, Sear-1869. Some underlying hairlines to reverse, otherwise quite well struck, good Very Fine, reverse near Extremely Fine.
