Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Commodus, as Augustus of the Nerva-Antonine Dynasty 177-192 AD, Silver Didrachm (4.11g, 17.5mm), Provincial Coinage of Caesarea mint, Cappadocia circa 182-185 AD. Obverse: Laureate head of Commodus facing to the right, legend surrounds, “ΛVT M ΛVΡ KOMO ΛNTꞶNIN”. Reverse: Agalma (statue) of Mount Argaeus surmounted by eight-pointed star, legend surrounds and continues clockwise into the exergue, “VΠΛTOC Δ ΠAT ΠΛTΡI”. Metcalf-155d; Caesarea Syd-372b. A decent representation of the popular type, struck on quite a broad, oval flan with a nice portrait, all devices on flan, the reverse lustrous, Very Fine, reverse good Very Fine.
