Description
Marcus Claudius Tacitus, Roman Emperor 275-276 AD, Æ Antoninianus, Ticinum mint 275-276 AD. Obverse: Radiate-crowned, draped and cuirassed bust of Tacitus facing to the right, legend surrounds, “IMP C M CL TACITVS AVG”. Reverse: Salus seated facing to the left, draped in stola and feeding snake which emerges from a box, mintmark “T” in exergue, legend surrounds, “SALVS AVG”. RIC-93var; Estiot-1307. Struck on a broad flan with slightly rusty dies, well struck and with underlying brilliance at every rotation, a very collectible example of the two year emperor, near Extremely Fine.
