Description
Diva Faustina Major, Augusta of the Nerva-Antonine Dynasty and wife of Antoninus Pius, died 140 AD, Æ As (12.69g, 24mm), Rome mint after 147 AD. Obverse: Diademed and Draped bust of Faustina the Elder facing to the right, legend surrounds, “DIVA FAVSTINA”. Reverse: Juno stands facing to the left, draped in stola and palla used as a veil, holding patera aloft in right hand and sceptre in left, “S C” to field either side, legend surrounds, “IVNO”. RIC-1190; Cohen-211. Struck off centre on the reverse, the obverse choice with all devices present, a nice example with a decent portrait, minor rim adhesions, Very Fine.
