Description
Marcus Aurelius Severus Alexander, Roman Emperor of the Severan Dynasty 222-235 AD, Æ Sestertius (25.84g, 31.5mm), Rome mint 231-235 AD. Obverse: Laureate and draped bust of Severus Alexander facing to the right, legend surrounds, “IMP CAES M AVR SEV ALEXANDER AVG”. Reverse: Pax advances to the left, draped in stola and holding branch aloft in right hand and sceptre in left, “S C” to field either side, legend surrounds, “PAX AVGVSTI”. RIC-592; Sear-7984. Dark patina and a broad flan, an imposing example of the denomination, worn over high points, legends legible, a nice example, near Very Fine, reverse better.
