Macedonian Empire, Wars of Diadochi period, Alexander III of the Argead Dynasty, Basileus of Macedon 336-323 BC, Silver Drachm (4.21g, 18mm, Attic standard), posthumous issue, Lampsakos mint 310-301 BC, struck under the authority of Antigonos I ‘monóphthalmos’ (one-eyed) in the position of Strategos of Asia. Obverse: Head of Herakles facing to the right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck. Reverse: Zeus ‘Aëtophoros’ (“Eagle Bearer”) seated left, holding perched eagle aloft in right hand and grounded sceptre in left, drapery flows around his waist on non-crossed legs, “KI” to left field, “M” below throne, “ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ” downward to right. Price-1404. Slight die shift on obverse causing slight doubling, well centred and evenly worn, Very Fine.
