Macedonian Empire, the Alexandrine Era, Alexander III ‘the Great’ of the Argead Dynasty, Silver Drachm (4.24g, 19mm, Attic Standard), Colophon mint circa 310-301 BC, under the authority of Antigonos I Monophthalmos as Strategos of Asia. Obverse: Head of Herakles facing to the right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck. Reverse: Zeus seated on backless throne facing to the left, drapery flows around his waist onto crossed legs, holding eagle in outstretched right hand and long sceptre in left, “K” to left field, “Ɔ” beneath throne, “AΛEΞANΔPO[Y]” downward to the right. Price-1826. Struck on quite a broad flan, each side choice with the reverse notably with all devices present on flan, collectible as such, good Very Fine.
