Description
Achaemenid Empire, Satrapy of Cilicia, region of Pamphylia, City-state of Aspendos, Silver Stater (10.73g, 23mm, Achaemenid Silver standard), circa 380/75-330/25 BC. Obverse: Two nude wrestlers stand vis-à-vis engaged in a grappling competition, “LΦ” between them below. Reverse: Slinger stands right, wearing chiton and in the process of shooting his sling, triskele of legs to right, “EΣTFEΔIIYΣ” upright to left; all within dotted square border. SNG Paris-105; SNG von Aulock-4565. Some light hairlines to reverse, quite well centred for the type and evenly worn, Very Fine, reverse near Very Fine.
