Empire of Japan, Taishō (大正) era, Yoshihito (嘉仁), posthumously as Taishō, Tennō (天皇) of Japan 1912-1926 AD, Gold Twenty Yen, Taishō Year 6 (1917 AD), Japan mint, Osaka. Obverse: Radiant sun central within flower cartouche, Kanji legend surrounds with each segment read right to left, denomination “圓 十 二” below, Imperial era and year “年 五 正 大” and country “本 日 大” above. Reverse: Denomination central “圓 十 二” within wreath of paulownia and chrysanthemum tied by ribbon, Imperial Crest above. KM Y-40.2; JNDA 01-6. Certified and graded by PCGS as Mint State 64. A highly lustrous and excellent offering of Taishō milled gold and a WWI period issue.
