Obverse: Head of Marianne facing to the left, wearing Phrygian Cap beneath wreath of laurel, engraver’s name “EM. LINDAUER” (Edmond-Émile Lindauer) below, legend surrounds, “REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE”. Reverse: Denomination “1 PIASTRE” and date within trellis decorated with floral design, “ESSAI” below, legend surrounds, “INDOCHINE FRANÇAISE”. KM-PE3; Lecompte-307; Gadoury-36. Limited mintage of 33 pieces. Certified and graded by PCGS as Specimen 62. A most noteworthy offering of a specimen issue of merely 33 pieces, sharp devices and some light toning over clear die polishing, particularly the reverse, feels under-graded at 62, rare.
