Description
Kingdom of Denmark, Frederick III of the House of Oldenburg, King of Denmark and Norway 1648-1670 AD, Silver Four Mark Danske (21.83g, 42mm), 1660, Type V, Copenhagen mint. Obverse: King Frederick III’s Royal Cypher (monogram of “F3”) surmounted by Royal Crown, inner beaded border and legend which terminates with the date surrounds, “IIII· Marck· Danske·”. Reverse: Royal Escutcheon of the Kingdom of Denmark over short cross potent and surmounted by Royal Crown, inner roped border and legend surrounds, “DOMINVS· PROVIDEBIT·”. KM-194.5; Davenport EC II-3574. A visually attractive piece with a nice palette of grey, blues and lighter orange tone, evenly struck devices with no areas of softness, near Extremely Fine, reverse good Very Fine.
