Obverse: Bare head of King George VI facing to the left, engraver’s initials “HP” (Humphrey Paget) below, legend surrounds, “GEORGIVS VI D:G: BR: OMN: REX F:D: IND: IMP.”. Reverse: A voyageur and aboriginal traveling by canoe right, transporting bundles inscribed “HB” (Hudson’s Bay Company) incuse, engraver’s initials “EH” (Emanuel Otto Hahn) to lower left, date and denomination below, country above. KM-46. Mintage of 18,780. Certified and graded by PCGS as Mint State 63. A choice mint state example of this highly sought after date from the Canadian series, offering bright lustrous fields with frosty obverse design features and the reverse offers a combination of frostiness and brilliance.
The obverse Latin legend is the Royal titulature of King George VI, reading unabridged as “Geōrgius sextus, Dei grātia, Britanniārum omnium Rēx, Fideī Dēfēnsor, Indiae Imperātor”, with an English translation of “George the sixth, by the Grace of God, King of all the British people, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India”.
