The British Raj, the Princely State of Jaisalmir, Silver Rupee (10.41g, 21mm), Regnal Year 22 of Queen Victoria (1860 AD), Jaisalmir mint. Obverse: Legend in Urdu naming her majesty Queen Victoria as Sovereign, “Malikah Mu’azzam rafi ud-darjat/ Victoria farman rawai/ inglistan/ sikkah mubarak” (“Auspicious coin of the honoured ruler, exalted in rank, Queen Victoria sovereign of England.”). Reverse: Legend as obverse, naming the mint and regnal year, “”dar al-riyasat Jaisalmer/ maimanat manus/ sanah jalus 22” (“Struck at the Seat of the Government of Jaisalmer in the year 22 of the accession associated with prosperity”). KM-21. Some staining to reverse, bold detail nonetheless and a very admirable example of the common type, details Extremely Fine or better.
