Description
Celtic Britannia, the Iceni, inscribed coinage, Silver Unit (1.17g, 13mm), ‘ECEN Trefoil’ type, circa 10-43 AD. Obverse: Pair of opposing voided crescents with two pellets between, all on a central band set on a perpendicular wreath. Reverse: Celticized horse right, ‘Y’ shaped head with mane of single dashes, six pellets on shoulder, floral arrangement of pellets above, “ECE” below. ABC-1663; VA-762-1. Well struck and toned, obverse better struck then usually seen, nicer in hand, good Very Fine.
