Marcus Julius Philippus, Roman Emperor from 244-249 AD, Æ Sestertius (17.55g, 27mm), Rome mint 245-247 AD. Obverse: Laureate and draped bust of Philip I facing to the right, legend surrounds, “IMP M IVL PHILIPPVS AVG”. Reverse: Annona stands facing to the left, draped and holding corn ears in right hand and resting cornucopia in right arm, “S C” to lower field, legend surrounds, “ANNONA AVGG”. RIC-168a; Sear-8990. Struck on a nice round flan and with an even, very dark brown patina, worn over high points, attractive in hand, good Very Fine.
