Description
Annia Galeria Faustina Minor (Faustina II ‘the younger’), Roman Empress of the Nerva-Antonine Dynasty and the wife of Marcus Aurelius 161-175 AD, Silver Denarius (3.41g, 18mm), Rome mint 154-156 AD, struck under Antoninus Pius. Obverse: Draped bust of Faustina II facing to the right, hair tired in bun, legend surrounds, “FΛVSTINΛ ΛVG PII ΛVG FIL”. Reverse: Concordia seated to the left, draped in stola and holding flower aloft in right hand and resting left on cornucopia, globe set below seat, legend surrounds, “CONCORDIΛ”. RIC-502a; RSC-54; Sear-4704. Toned with nice colour to the peripheral devices framing a decent portrait, although softly struck, the reverse sharp, Extremely Fine.
