Description
Flavius Julius Constantius, Augustus of the Constantinian Dynasty 337-361 AD, Æ2 or Centenionalis, Antioch mint 350-355 AD, ‘Restoration of Happier Times’ series. Obverse: Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantius II facing to the right, legend surrounds, “DN CONSTANTIVS PF AVG”. Reverse: Roman solider (or Virtus), helmeted and in full military attire, spearing barbarian which falls clutching his horse, “Γ” to left field, mintmark “ANA” in exergue, legend surrounds, “FEL TEMP REPARATIO”. RIC VIII-135 A. A very admirable example from the well-known series, clear design each side, details virtually as struck, Extremely Fine.
