Roman Republic, C. Publicius Malleolus C.f., Lucius Licinius and Gnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus, Silver Denarius Serratus (3.19g, 19mm), Narbo mint 118 BC. Obverse: Head of Roma facing to the right, wearing winged Attic helmet, mark of value “X” to left field, “C· MALLE C·F” surrounds anticlockwise. Reverse: Gallic warrior (Bituitus?), holding large round shield with left hand and hurling spear with right, commands biga which advances to the right, mint magistrate’s name “L·LIC· CN·DOM” in exergue. Crawford-282/3; Sydenham-524. Struck on a broad flan and lightly toned, a nice example with basically all devices present on flan, Very Fine.
