Description
Julia Domna, Augusta of the Severan Dynasty and the wife of Septimius Severus 193-211 AD, Silver Denarius, Rome mint 209 AD. Obverse: Draped bust of Julia Domna facing to the right, legend surrounds, “[IV]LIA AVGVSTA”. Reverse: Juno stands facing to the left, draped and holding patera aloft in right hand and sceptre in left, peacock stands at foot to the left, legend surrounds, “[IVNO] REGINA”. Sear-1841; RIC-560; RSC-97. Struck on a compact flan with unilateral toning, good Very Fine.
