Description
Julia Maesa, as Augusta of the Severan Dynasty and grandmother of Elagabalus, Silver Denarius (3.00g, 19mm), Rome mint 218-222 AD. Obverse: Bare-headed and draped bust of Julia Maesa facing to the right, legend surrounds, “JVLIA MAESA AVG”. Reverse: Pudicitia seated facing to the left, draped and veiled, holding sceptre in left arm and raising veil in right, legend surrounds, “PVDICITIA”. Sear-7756; RIC-268; RSC-36. Well centred on an oval flan, virtually as made, near Mint State.
