Roman Republic, L. Titurius L.f. Sabinus, Silver Denarius (3.91g, 19mm), Rome mint 89 BC. Obverse: Bare head of the Sabine King Tatius facing to the right, “SABIN” downward to left, palm frond to lower right. Reverse: Tarpeia buried to her waist in shields, raising hands in defence against two soldiers either side casting their shields at her, crescent and star to field above, moneyer’s name “L·TITVRI” in exergue. Crawford-344/2b; Sydenham-699. Deeply toned each side, minor deposits on obverse, quite well centred each side, a popular reverse type, Very Fine, reverse good Very Fine.
