Seleucid Empire, Antiochus VII Euergetes (Sidetes), Basileus of the Seleucid Empire 138-129 BC, Silver Tetradrachm (16.51g, 30mm, Reduced Attic Standard), Antioch on the Oriontes mint 138-129 BC. Obverse: Diademed head of King Antiochus VII facing to the right. Reverse: Athena Nikephorus standing facing to the right, draped and wearing crested helmet, holding Nike facing left and spear, shield rests at her side, “BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANTIOXOY” downward to right, “EYEΡΓETOY” downward to left, ΔI monogram over A in left field, all within wreath. The reverse poorly struck, a fact easily overlooked by the bold and impressive obverse on the captivating broad flan, a portrait featuring what is often considered the last of the great Seleucid Kings, near Extremely Fine, reverse good Very Fine.
