Ptolemaic Kingdom, Ptolemy VI Philometor, Basileus of Ptolemaic Egypt in his second reign 163-145 BC, Silver Tetradrachm (14.22g, 26mm, Ptolemaic Standard), regnal year K (20), Paphos mint, Cyprus 162/161 BC. Obverse: Diademed head of King Ptolemy I Soter facing to the right, wearing aegis around neck. Reverse: Eagle stands facing to the left atop thunderbolt, wings closed, regnal year “L K” in left field, “ΠA” in right field, “BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAIOY” surrounds. Svoronos-1432; BMC-34; Paris-181. Typical minor contact marks, otherwise a bold Ptolemaic piece of Ptolemy VI, handsomely toned and well centred, Very Fine to good Very Fine.
