Macedonian Empire, Wars of Diadochi period, Alexander III of the Argead Dynasty, Basileus of Macedon 336-323 BC, Silver Drachm (4.35g, 18mm, Attic standard), posthumous issue, Lampsakos mint 310-301 BC, struck under the authority of Antigonos I ‘monóphthalmos’ (one-eyed) in the position of Strategos of Asia. Obverse: Head of Herakles facing to the right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck. Reverse: Zeus ‘Aëtophoros’ (“Eagle Bearer”) seated left, holding perched eagle aloft in right hand and grounded sceptre in left, drapery flows around his waist on crossed legs, “KI” to left field, “ME” monogram below throne, “ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡ[ΟΥ]” downward to right. Price-1406. A well struck, lustrous obverse, all devices on flan, good Very Fine, reverse Very Fine.
