Description
Phoenicia, Arados, Silver Stater of Two Siglos (10.12g, 20mm, Persian Standard), struck circa 370-346 BC. Obverse: Laureate Head of Ba’al-Arwad facing to right. Reverse: Galley in sail to right above waves, Pataikos on prow facing right, “MA’” in Achaemenid Aramaic above. Betlyon-26; Elayi-A Group III-4.1b. Nicely toning and well centred, a well recognized type for the Phoenicia region prior to King Alexander III’s conquest, details Very Fine.
