Republic of New Granada, Columbia, Gold Eight Escudos (26.94g, 37mm), 1832 RS, Bogotá mint. Obverse: Draped bust of Liberty facing to the left, wearing headband inscribed “LIBERTY”, date below, legend surrounds, “REPUBLICA DE COLUMBIA”. Reverse: Fasces over bow and three arrows saltire central within pair of cornucopiae forming a wreath, tied below with ribbon, denomination and assayer’s initials “RS” surrounds below, mint name surrounds above. KM-82.1. Of typical strike for the type, a nice, honest example and quite attractive in hand, Extremely Fine for the type.
