Germany, Kingdom of Bavaria, Maximilian I Joseph, King of Bavaria 1806-1825 AD, Silver Conventionsthaler (27.84g, 40mm), MDCCCXVIII (1818 AD), Granting of the Bavarian Constitution (1818) commemorative issue, Munich mint. Obverse: Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of King Maximilian I Joseph facing to the right, legend surrounds, “MAXIMILIANUS IOSEPHUS BAVARIÆ REX”. Reverse: Block resting upon the Shield of Arms of the Kingdom of Bavaria (1807 -1835), bearing the incuse inscription “CHARTA MAGNA BAVARIÆ”, date “XXVI MAII MDCCCXVIII” (26th May 1818) in exergue, legend surrounds, “MAGNUS AB INTEGRO SÆCLORUM NASCITUR ORDO”. Edge: Inscription in raised lettering, “ZEHEN EINE FEINE MARK”. KM-708; Davenport-553. Mintage of 40,000. Notably bold on the obverse and lightly toned either side, some light contact marks otherwise a nice piece, near Extremely Fine, reverse good Very Fine.
