Description
Publius Licinius Cornelius Saloninus Valerianus, as Caesar under Valerian I and Gallienus 258-260 AD, Billon Antoninianus, Antioch mint 258-259 AD. Obverse: Radiate-crowned and draped bust of Saloninus facing to the right, legend surrounds, “P COR SAL VALERIANVS CAES”. Reverse: Saloninus on the left receives Victoria from Jupiter, legend surrounds, “DII NVTRITORES”. RIC-35a; Sear-10765. A somewhat difficult piece to get with a legible and attractive portrait – the example here offers a noteworthy portrait in quite nice and veristically youthful style, the reverse soft in strike, good Very Fine.
