Description
Octavian, Imperatorial Rome 49-27 BC, Silver Denarius (3.66g, 18mm), struck at Rome 30-29 BC. Obverse: Laureate Head of Actian Apollo facing right. Reverse: Octavian, as the founder of Nicopolis and institutor of the four-yearly festival of Actian Apollo, ploughing the field right with a yoke of oxen, “IMP CAESAR” in exergue. Sear-1560; RIC-272; RSC-117. Obverse slightly off centre, else a lovely example; excellent detail on reverse. Good Very fine.
