Artabanus III, Prince of the Parthian Empire and contender for the throne 79/80-81 AD, Silver Drachm (3.66g, 19mm), Ecbatana mint circa 79/80-81 AD. Obverse: Diademed bust of Prince Artabanus III facing to the left with long, rectangular beard and straight hair, earring visible. Reverse: Arsaces I seated facing to the left, wielding bow forward, “AT” monogram below bow, legend in corrupted Ancient Greek surrounds, “◻️ΛCIΛCI[I] ◻️ΛCΙΛCΛN ΛI-IΛN◻️ [ΔI]VIIΓΕΤ[◻️] ΔΙXΛI◻️V [IΠ]Ι+ΛΝ◻️V [+ΙΛI]ΛΛΗX◻️[V]”. As well centred as possible for the type and struck on an attractively broad flan, sharp details each side and nice amber toning through the devices, basically as struck, near Mint State, if not so.
