Description
England, Confectioners, Bakers and Allied Trades Annual International Exhibition London, Silver Prize medal (54.61g, 49mm) by T. & J. Bragg, hallmarked Birmingham 1901, awarded to H. Palmer of Battersea. Obverse: Ceres stands facing to the right, draped and laureate with corn ears, holding sickle in right hand and bundle of wheat stalks, exergual-ground line below, legend surrounds, “THE CONFECTIONERS, BAKERS AND ALLIED TRADERS ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION, LONDON”. Reverse: Central nameplate bearing the engraving “H. PALMER. BATTERSEA. S.W.”, hallmarks below, wreath of corn ears surrounds. A most handsome example of the type which demonstrates a sublime pallete of blues that sweeps the field upon even the slightest rotation in hand, Mint State and less often seen.
