Description
Charles II of the House of Stuart, King of England 1660-1685 AD, Marriage to Catherine of Braganza oval medal in silver (4.58g, 31x28mm), 1662. Obverse: Crowned Bust of King Charles II facing to the left, crowned “C” and “R” either side, legend and multi-layered border surrounds, “PACE. TRIVMPHANS.”. Reverse: Draped Bust of Queen consort Catherine of Braganza facing to the left, crown to left field, legend and multi-layered border surrounds, “FVTVRI: SPES:”. Eimer-225. Cast and chased, a superior example and problem free, an admirable portrait of the king and queen, virtually as issued, good Extremely Fine.
The obverse Latin legend reads “Pace triumphāns”, with an English translation of “Triumphing from Peace”. The reverse Latin legend reads “Futūrī spēs”, with an English translation of “Hope of the future”
