British Raj (Crown Rule of India), George V of the House of Windsor, King of the United Kingdom and Emperor of India 1910-1936 AD, Gold Fifteen Rupees (8.00g, 22mm) 1918, Royal mint Bombay branch. Obverse: Crowned bust of King George V facing to the left, wearing coronation robes, legend surrounds, “GEORGE V KING & EMPEROR”. Reverse: Denomination, country and date central in three lines, all within beaded inner border, ten-pointed star entwined with scrollwork surrounds. Stevens & Weir-8.1; Pridmoore-25. A bold and most handsome example of the prelude type to the 1918 I gold sovereign of the British Empire, a light cut on the crown else in a noteworthy state of preservation, Mint State.
