Description
Kingdom of England, Mary II of the House of Stuart & William III of the House of Orange-Nassau, as Queen and King of England 1688-1694 AD, Æ Half Penny, 1694, Royal mint, London. Obverse: Jugate busts of Queen Mary II and King William III facing to the right, the King armoured and the Queen draped, legend surrounds, “GVLIELMVS· ET· MARIA·”. Reverse: Britannia enthroned left, draped and holding olive sprig aloft in right hand and unornamented spear in left, shield bearing the Union Jack rests by the throne, date in exergue, legend surrounds, “BRITANNIA·”. S-3452. Certified and graded by PCGS as Almost Uncirculated 55. The final year of the William & Mary issues, a near mint bronze survivor with softly struck devices, typical of the type, scarce in grade.
The obverse Latin legend is stated in full as “Gulielmus et Marīa”, with an English translation of “William and Mary”.
