Anne of the House of Stuart, Queen of Great Britain 1702-1714 AD, Silver Shilling, 1708, Post Union with Scotland, Tower mint, London. Obverse: Third draped bust of Queen Anne facing to the left, legend surrounds, “ANNA· DEI· GRATIA·”. Reverse: Cruciform Shields of Arms of the House of Stuart, Garter star central, Irish harp of 6 strings, date either side of top crown, legend surrounds, “·MAG BRI· FR ET· HIB REG·”. Bull-1399; S-3610. Certified and graded by PCGS as Mint State 64. Awash with an enchanting display of rainbow toning, a very collectible piece.
The obverse Latin legend reads unabridged as “Anna, deī grātiā”, with an English translation of “Anna, by the Grace of God”. The obverse Latin legend continues on the reverse and reads unabridged as “Magnae Britanniae, Franciae et Hiberniae rēgīna”, with an English translation of “Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland”.
