Obverse: Kite-shaped Escutcheon charged with the Cross of Saint George within an untied wreath of laurel and palm, initial mark ‘sun’ above, legend surrounds, “· THE · COMMONWEALTH · OF · ENGLAND ·”. Reverse: Conjoined kite-shaped Escutcheons of the Armorial of the Kingdom of Ireland on the right and the left charged with the Cross of Saint George, mark of value “·XX·” above, all within inner beaded border, date above, legend surrounds, “· GOD · WITH · VS ·”. Of the utmost appeal and collectability, our offered piece is a striking unite of the English interregnum struck on a relatively round flan with fairly even devices, some doubling to reverse, very pleasing in hand, near Extremely Fine, reverse Extremely Fine, scarce.
