Description
Roman Republic, Q. Minucius M.f. Thermus of gens Minuciī Thermī, as triumvir monētālis, Silver Denarius (3.87g, 19mm), Rome mint 103 BC. Obverse: Head of Mars facing to the left, wearing crested helmet decorated with two volutes and a plume. Reverse: Two warriors engaged in battle, each armed with sword and shield, the left protecting a fallen comrade who kneels below, “Q· THERM· MF·” (‘THE’ & ‘MF’ ligate). Crawford-319/1; Sydenham-592. Nice, original toning with richer colours hugging the devices, a very handsome example of an always popular issue due to its bold reverse design, near Extremely Fine.
