Description
Flavius Julius Constantius, as Caesar of the Constantinian Dynasty under Constantine I ‘the Great’, Æ Follis, Heraclea mint 326 AD. Obverse: Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantius II facing to the left, legend surrounds, “FL IVL CONSTANTIUS NOB C”. Reverse: Campgate with two turrets and five layers, star above, dot above each turret, mintmark “SMHΔ” and dot in exergue, legend surrounds, “PROVIDENTIAE CAESS”. RIC VII 84var (5 layers, no central dot). A very charming, well centred piece on a round flan, lovely chocolate brown patina and a dignified portrait, good Very Fine.
