Julia Avita Mamaea, Augusta of the Severan Dynasty and mother of Severus Alexander 222-235 AD, Æ Sestertius (20.96g, 29mm), Rome mint 228 AD. Obverse: Diademed and draped bust of Julia Mamaea facing to the right, legend surrounds, “IVLIA MAMAEA AVGVSTA”. Reverse: Felicitas stands facing to the left, draped in stola, holding caduceus aloft in right hand and leaning left arm on column, “S C” to field either side, legend surrounds, “FELICITAS PVBLICA”. RIC-677; Sear-8243. A charming sestertius featuring a broad and fine style portrait, well centred each side and with a nice dark chocolate brown patina with hints of green through the devices, Very Fine.
