British Empire, Australia, Colony of New South Wales, the time of King George III (1760-1820 AD), Silver Fifteen Pence ‘Dump’, 1813, dies A/1, engraved by William Hanshall, Emergency Currency Issue by Proclamation 1st July 1813 by N.S.W. Governor Lachlan Macquarie (Governor 1 January 1810 – 30 November 1821), cut from a Spanish Empire Silver Eight Reales ‘Bust’ type and entirely over-struck. Obverse: Saint Edward’s Crown central, date “1813” below, legend surrounds, “NEW SOUTH WALES”; host coin devices obliterated. Reverse: Denomination “FIFTEEN PENCE” central, engraver’s initial “H” (William Hanshall) between denomination; host coin devices remain, the Royal Arms of the Kingdom of Spain. KM-1.1. Certified and graded by PCGS as Very Fine 25. A most handsome Australian Colonial Dump of Fifteen Pence, overall quite attractive in appearance and with some unobtrusive host coin devices still present on the reverse, an ideal opportunity to acquire an Australian numismatic rarity.
