Eadgar ‘the Peaceful’, Anglo-Saxon King 959-975 AD, Silver Penny (1.25g), Pre-Reform Coinage of 959-973 AD, ‘Two Line’ Type, North-East Variant, Moneyer ‘Ive’. Obverse: Small cross central within inner circle, pellet and crescent ends legend, “✠ EΛDGΛR RE” (“King Edgar”). Reverse: Moneyer’s name in two lines, crosses between, trefoils top and bottom, “IVE И ✠ ✠ ✠ ONEN” (“Moneyer Ive”). Spink-1129, North-741. Some minor spots of green, particularly on reverse – otherwise problem free. Very Fine and Scarce.
